Flag Retirement on Flag Day

- 6/24/2025

VFW Post 845 celebrated Flag Day with a Flag Retirement ceremony on Saturday, June 14, 2025.  The Post retired more than 2,000 flags no longer fit for proud display.  The U.S. Flag, known as our National Colors, was born 248 years earlier on June 14, 1777.  Boy Scouts from various troops throughout the area participated in the Flag Retirement ceremony and at 1700 the Post Canteen was shut down for ten minutes as all patrons joined the ceremony to learn about and respect our Nation’s Colors.  Coincidentally, the Post also celebrated the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Army born on June 14, 1775.

Pictured below are Flag Collection boxes.  Annually, Post 845 retires more than 10,000 flags dropped off at these two collection boxes.
